I’m Joshua Renza, a Colombian-American journalist, sports management and journalism undergrad at Elon University, and a storyteller passionate about soccer, sports culture, and the people who make the game meaningful.

Growing up in Statesville, North Carolina, I developed a love for sports through playing and watching soccer from an early age. Today, I follow the game from multiple perspectives, from Charlotte FC and the Colombian National Team to leagues and competitions across North and South America and Europe.

Through this, I share match analysis, game recaps, feature stories, interviews, and observations from the world of sports. My goal is to go beyond the final score by exploring the tactics, personalities, cultures, and communities that shape the game.

I currently serve as a sports journalist for Rising Phoenix and work as an Advancement Communications Intern at Elon University, where I cover athletics, student life, and alumni stories through writing, reporting, interviews, and multimedia content. These experiences have strengthened my passion for telling stories that inform, connect, and inspire.

As a first-generation American with Colombian roots, I believe sports have a unique ability to bring people together across cultures and communities. My goal is simple: tell meaningful stories and provide thoughtful perspectives on the sports that matter.

If you enjoy soccer analysis, sports storytelling, and coverage that looks beyond the headlines, I’d love to have you along for the journey.
